Season in short

If you thought that Lukas Webb playing just five games in 2016 after featuring in ten last season meant the 20-year-old had gone backwards, think again.

Initially earmarked as running defender, Webb has been gradually shaped into a tough inside midfielder/forward this season and has excelled in his new role averaging 26 disposals, five tackles and kicked thirteen goals for Footscray.

Faces a challenge to break into one of the League’s leading contested ball midfields but has good size and agility to go with a lethal left leg.

The stat that mattered

Was named best on ground five times in the VFL this season, including in Footscray’s 119-point preliminary final win over Collingwood.

Gram of the year

Powerful and inspiring. Track it down if you haven’t seen it already.
