Not only is Bailey Smith one of the most talented players in this year’s draft, he is also one of the most hard-working.

The self-driven teen, who was taken at pick 7, has set high standards in order to get the most out of himself during his time at the Bulldogs.

“A big thing for me is training standards – setting an example,” said Smith.

“Behind the scenes, doing all the recovery I can, even with my diet.”

But Smith doesn’t want to do the hard yards alone, and is dedicated to listening and learning from the staff and players at his new club.

“Whatever the Doggies require of me is what I’ll do,” he said.

“I just want to be as coachable as possible.”

Being handed his first jumper by Dogs’ captain Easton Wood made Smith’s night all the sweeter.

“To see him up on stage – I gave him about four hugs after we got off stage,” he said.

“I just couldn’t believe it.  He’s the best bloke.  It was really good.”
