Season in short

Countless column inches have been dedicated to the fact that Bob Murphy’s season ended with a serious knee injury in round three against Hawthorn.

What hasn’t been discussed nearly as much is the form the 2015 All-Australian captain was in before he went down.

Averaging 28 touches off of half back at 82%, the skipper’s clean and assured use of the football saw that he remained a key figure of the Bulldogs back six, and his 515 average metres gained per match was 39 ahead of his closet teammate.

The 34-year-old has been running since July and is expected to complete a full preseason.

The stat that mattered

Murphy will look to be just the seventh Bulldog to play 300 games in season 2017.

Gram of the year

Bob kept fans updated on his rehab progress.
